Happy 2010, can you feel the shift?
One thing I've noticed over the years is how popular maternity portraiture has become. I started my maternity series when I was pregnant 16 years ago. My first pregnant subject was a beautiful woman in full bloom, along with her awestruck husband whom she loved dearly, and the portrait we created was an intimate nude figure study that spoke of the loving connection between them. It was a good initiation into the world of maternity portraiture. I was so taken by the beauty, excitement, love and humor of the experience, that I began the Between Two Worlds maternity portrait series. It makes me happy to see American women recognize this miraculous time in their life and celebrate it with a sacred portrait. Not only does it honor their Goddessness, but the new life yet to be born.
Below are four of my latest works.
